This section should contain any information specific to the Windows experience.  At present, there are some Windows-specific tidbits scattered elsewhere in the Wiki (e.g., scaling issues), but eventually I plan to create links from here to there as needed.

Windows 10 Edit

Windows 10 has been released to manufacturers (RTM) and build 10240, which has been made available to all participants in Microsoft's Insider Program, is presumed to be the same as Win10 RTM. Microsoft has advised that Win10 will be rolled out to the general public starting on July 31, 2015. This should be a free upgrade for everyone who owns an XPS 15 (9530). As of this writing (July 18, 2015), I am running Windows 10 build 10240 on my XPS.

At least one user has reported WiFi difficulties under Win10. I can confirm that Intel's driver 17.16.0.4 (dated back to March 2015) works fine under Win10. I attempted to update that driver to the one released by Dell on July 30, 2015, but the driver failed to install. Here's what the log said:

"Hardware id is not found in driver inf." Apparently there is a bit of a mismatch between the driver and the hardware. If you're having difficulty running the Intel driver from March, please post in the comments.

Windows 8.1Edit

Why can't it be like Windows 7?

Boot to Desktop

Calibrate Your Display (although this section is primarily part of the How To portion of the wiki, at present the instruction set is Windows-specific.)

Windows 7Edit

Keep in mind that Windows 7 struggles with scaling more than Windows 8 does, and Windows 7 is unlikely to ever get better at it.  Windows 7 is also not as well optimized for touch as Windows 8.  However, if you wish to find Windows 7 drivers for this system, look on Dell's driver page for the Precision M3800.  The only drivers that will be missing are the GeForce GPU driver (which you should download directly from NVIDIA anyway) the NFC radio driver (since the M3800 does not have NFC).  The Windows 8.1 driver from the XPS 15's drivers section may work for NFC; if not, you may not be able to use NFC with Windows 7 on this system.  Additionally, if you wish to use Intel Rapid Start and Intel Smart Connect on Windows 7, you will need to retrieve those applications directly from Intel since they are missing from the M3800's Windows 7 driver list.  However, be aware of some potential drawbacks of Rapid Start.

Several owners have recommended simply keeping Windows 8.1 and tweaking it to restore the functionality of Windows 7's desktop environment as you feel necessary.
